Onda Wellness exists to facilitate the healing powers of cannabis for the planet and the people. We believe in the holistic approach to this ancient plant medicine and created Onda Wellness to help you achieve a new level of health through whole plant hemp oils (products?)
Ultimately, we want you to feel better.
Annie Sicard and Stephen Smith teamed up in early 2017 to form Onda Wellness after Stephen had his ah-ha moment the following holiday season. With Annie's background in medical cannabis, finance, wellness, product development, and management and Stephen's path through Biodynamic and Organic agriculture, photography, winemaking, hospitality, and business development, this duo hit the ground running and has trail blazed the whole plant approach to the CBD industry since.
"It seeded as I rushed off to the airport one morning," Stephen recalls at the start of Onda. "I dropped some homemade CBD oil into my tea while heading out the door, not thinking much of it. Flying home for the holidays after a lousy night's sleep and coming down with a cold and sore from the previous days' trail-run, I settled deep into my seat with utter exhaustion. Surprisingly enough, I felt relaxed, comfortable, and free of anxiety and soreness. I thought, 'There's something here, and this could change lives.'"
Shortly thereafter, Stephen approached the parent of a dear friend who passed from a seizure the year before. Someone special led him to Annie, his now business partner and friend.
ANNIE SICARD // CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER & CO-FOUNDER
Annie started working when she was nine years old waiting tables at her mother's cafe on the lake surrounding the Missouri/Arkansas line. “It was instilled in me that I had to work hard to get somewhere, so I’ve since engaged in all types of interesting jobs. From singing telegrams, kickboxing teacher, chauffeur, lead singer in a band, school teacher, finance, to a medical marijuana entrepreneur!" Annie recalls with reminiscence.
After the market crashed in 2008, Annie started an edibles company called Annie's Edibles. “Being a part of the Medical Marijuana industry was incredible in so many ways. It was also a little scary! But I went for it anyway.”
Annie witnessed people celebrating the renewal of plant medicine and the newfound freedom in replacing traditional western medicines with cannabis. “The collection of stories I gathered from this paradigm shift made my heart happy. I knew I was in the right place at the right time.”
“When I got the call from Stephen in January of 2017 asking if I would like to create a business in the CBD hemp world, once again I felt that sense of purpose and place. The answer was an absolute, ‘Yes! The world needs this, the world is ready.’
“Here we are,” Annie says after two and a half years with Stephen and Onda Wellness. “We are simply the messengers of this sacred plant in a time it is so desperately needed.”
STEPHEN SMITH // CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER & CO-FOUNDER
Growing up in North Carolina in an active family Stephen spent most of his developmental days outside exploring his grandmother's farm, the woods, streams, and lakes of this bio-diversified Southern landscape.
Stephen received a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Colorado while exploring the Rocky Mountains. It was a five-month solo motorcycle adventure through South America that piqued Stephen’s interest in farming, grape growing, and winemaking. Ultimately leading him to get his hands dirty working for boutique wineries and vineyards in Napa, California, arguably the wine mecca of the world.
By 2012, Stephen found his next job back in Colorado to work as the Director of Business Development for a diversified farm and the first Organic distillery in the United States which also happened to be the only Biodynamic vineyard in Colorado at that time. Experiencing half a year on this 90,000-acre cattle ranch opened Stephen's eyes to large scale land management, animal husbandry, and agricultural and economic diversification. This stage in his life prepared him to fully pursue his lifelong dream of homesteading on his own land in Northeast Oregon, which Stephen now calls Crow Creek Oregon.
And so is the start of their medicine journey. They haven't looked back since.
